A WISH CAME TRUE

Description: I made this lo for the August scrap pack challenge. All we can add are the items sent to us..and paper, pics, paint, ink, chalk, and journaling...the adhesives have to be not seen.
the contents are:
24 acrylic skittles- in the doilie lace for centers and in the flowers.
Maya road acrylic arrow-pointing to the baby and w/the title.
doilie-cut apart and made to look like lace running across bottom and side of photo.
4x10 sheet shrinky dink plastic- colored blue and cut in to stars and shrank...... (a Wish upon a star)
5 round re-enforcement labels-on flowers and the acrylic arrow.
beaded fringe- made onto the fishing line and put behind stars to make for a shooting star.
2 yards of fishing line- used on the shooting stars and painted black for the whiskers on the bunny.
fringed material- cut up and used to make flowers and put across top of photo.
4 split rings- used to make corner circles around photo.
cardstock quote shapes- painted aqua and used by photo.
mulberry square- made to make bunny to hold title.
the story behind the photo is that me and my husband would go for a walk in the late evening and when we would see a shooting star we would make a wish...well one night we both saw two different stars and wished for the same wish..and you can guess what we wished for! tfl!

MY GIFT

Description: I COMPLETED THIS LO FOR THE COSMO CRICKET CHALLENGE, USING 75% COSMO CRICKET..I USED THE BE GOOD COLLECTION. AND FOR THE AUGUST JOURNALING W/ A TWIST ADD A BUTTON/BUTTONS.
I USED SEVERAL TECHNIQUES..ANTIQUING, DISTRESSING, WALNUT INK, STAMPING, CRACKLE PAINT. I PUT SEVERAL PICTURES CLOSE UPS IN THE GALLERY.
THE JOURNALING READS:When I was a child Christmas time was the most wonderful time of the year. I was so excited and loved putting up decorations and making all kind of goodies. Most of these traditions have carried thru into adult hood. When I first got married I soon realized I was not going to be able to have the “SAME” kind of Christmas that I was accustomed to…there were no decorations, no tree at first your daddy did bring one home one Saturday. It was quickly looking like there was going to be no Holiday that I being an only child was used to. I was 17 and expecting my first child who would be born in January, your daddy was 19 and worked every day and we still could barely get by trying to get ready for a baby and pay rent, etc. there was no money for Christmas items or gifts..etc.

This went on for many years to come although your daddy would always make sure you guys had toys and a tree. We would shop to get just the right toys, take you to see Santa and the trains. Your grandma Nancy would come over and out do us (to speak) and it would hurt our feelings, because we could only do a few things and of course all their toys were much better because it would be the things that were bigger and more costly. Time would change and your grandmother

Thank you children for the gift, because YOU are the GIFT!!!! Love always, Momma

Hau ' oli La Hanau Crystal

here is a lo I made for the Rusty Pickle August Blog Challenge http://rustypickle.typepad.com/picklelicious/2008/08/august-blog-cha.html
It is a picture of my daughter Crystal for her 15th Birthday. We had a big party LUAU style and lots of her friends came..Chad, Kim, Alyssa, and her family was all there. We all dressed in Hula skirts and I was able to cut a few strips from one of the skirts to make the piece behind the flower that was hand cut from RP 704 Tahitian flowers. The cake was homemade into flip flops and handmade flowers on the front...they loved it!!! Her daddy took her sister shopping at Party City to purchase everything from the pinata tiki face stuffed with candy to the coconut drink cups. The sign said IT'S A LUAU. The flower lias were a big hit! I used alot of Rusty Pickle items from.....Bottle Rockets St83 title, RP703 North Shore, RP708 Hawaiian hottie, ST 57 Island Summer Alpha stickers...Crystal. RP707 Tribal Tattoo, Rp704 Tahitian flowers, RPT701 transparency, CT04 Island Summer Tag set. The challenge was to use RP summer papers and any RP alpha stickers to create a Birthday Scene. Hau' oli La Hanau means HAPPY BIRTHDAY in Hawaiian. TFL!!!!

THE POEM READS:

Tell me, what is half so sweet
As a baby's tiny feet,
Pink and dainty as can be,
Like coral from the sea?
Talk of jewels strung in rows,
Gaze upon those little toes,
Fairer than a diadem,
With the mother kissing them!

Little feet, so rich with charm,
May you never come to harm.
As I bend and proudly blow
Laughter out of every toe,
This pray, that God above
Shall protect you with His love,
And shall guide those little feet
Safely down life's broader street.
